Hickory – Akron, OH

Hickory, formerly Memorial Station, is a planned neighborhood promoting New Urban concepts of planning and design. Further development of the site plan allowed us the opportunity to focus on housing typology. Shown here are the Mansion Flat and two townhome types. The Mansion flat building consists of six 1000 square foot units while the townhomes offer four to seven units at 16000 square foot each. Floor plans are designed with maximum efficiency to make the most use of the space. We followed the principal of quality of space rather than quantity for these homes, much like the concepts put forth in “The Not So Big House” by Sarah Susanka.
