BLU-Tique Hotel and Restaurant – Akron, OH

The BLU-Tique Hotel is another jewel in the Blu Jazz Family of brands.  The Brand was originally conceived of a Blues and Jazz club, the concept and moniker was the guiding design concept for the new Hotel.  Located in a Historic Register building, the former United Cigar Office building, this was an Ohio Historic Tax Credit project.  The buildings relatively small footprint was well suited for the new hotel use, as rooms were designed around the main existing Historic Corridor on the upper floors.  The existing elevator lobbies were also restored and brought back to life as the main vertical circulation spine for the building.  The lobby, restaurant and bar located on the ground floor were integrated into what was formerly multiple retail spaces with multiple level changes.   The design is cool Blu elements with a node to mid century appointments, creating a hip and “Cool” place to eat, drink, and hear great Jazz. Th brad was flagged by Marriott International and is now a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, part of their Boutique Hotel line.
